RTI State DatabaseLaunch of the NCRTI State Database!

The National Center on Response to Intervention is pleased to announce our new RTI State Database, which provides many resources that were developed by states and districts in the U.S. on a number of topics related to response to intervention (RTI). The resources range from policy documents and briefs, to training modules and tools. In addition, the database presents information about each state’s RTI framework, RTI-related State Performance Plans or State Personnel Development Grants and the use of RTI for Specific Learning Disability eligibility. The database allows users to easily conduct a variety of searches to gather state and district information about RTI. The database can be accessed through our homepage (www.rti4success.org) by clicking on the “Search the RTI State Database” button.

Curriculum Based Measurement (CBM) Summer Training Series

Over the course of the summer the National Center on Response to Intervention is hosting a series of free webinars on Curriculum Based Measurement. Learn what CBM is, how to administer it, and how to use the data you collect in a response to intervention framework.

Webinar Series:

Each webinar will be held from 12:00 – 1:00pm Eastern Time. Pre-registration is not required for these free events.

Call for Screening Tools

Megaphone The National Center on Response to Intervention has announced a call for reading and math screening tools. Now through June 26th, the Center’s Technical Review Committee is accepting submissions of reading and math screening tools that can be used in an RTI context. All interested developers are invited to submit. For more details visit the Tools/Interventions section of our website.

NCRTI Webinar: Tiered Instruction and Interventions

On May 20th, Laurie Emory from the Vail School District in Arizona, and Denise Waalen and Lynne Viker from the Mahtomedi School District in Minnesota joined the National Center on Response to Intervention to present a webinar on “Tiered Instruction and Interventions.” The presenters shared their districts’ experiences in implementing RTI at both the elementary and middle school levels. They provided an overview of their districts’ RTI models and implementation, discussed the provision of interventions and tiered instruction, and described the professional development opportunities provided to prepare teachers for RTI. TQ Connection Online Discussion on Response to Intervention (RTI): Evidence-based Math Interventions

NCCTQ LogoOn May 18-22, the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality hosted the online discussion “Response to Intervention (RTI): Evidence-based Math Interventions.” Dr. Amanda VanDerHeyden, a consultant with Education Research and Consulting, Inc., facilitated a discussion about findings from the National Math Panel Report. The discussion highlighted the research used to guide the selection of adequate universal screening measures, progress monitoring measures, and the identification and development of instructional strategies appropriate for use within all tiers of instruction. Dr. VanDerHeyden also addressed the implications for teacher preparation. Dyslexia International

Dyslexia ForumIn preparation for the World Dyslexia Forum to be held in Paris in February, 2010, Dyslexia International is collecting information from teachers of literacy on their "good practice in teaching reading and writing." Teachers are encouraged to complete the survey at www.worlddyslexiaforum.org describing their practice. The findings from this survey will be summarized and shared with participants at the Forum.

EdWeek Webinar – Education Stimulus: A Progress Report

Education WeekOn May 21st, Education Week hosted a webinar to discuss the progress made to date by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Two Education Week reporters who have been covering ARRA since its inception addressed the challenges schools have faced in securing and sustainably spending ARRA funds, and school districts’ responses to the surge of funding for Title I, professional development, and IDEA. They also discussed lessons from the past three months that educators can draw on as they prepare for the next wave of funding.
