How Progress Monitoring Assists Decision Making in a Response to Instruction Framework?

This 2007 brief from Deborah Speece studies an RTI model as a method of identifying children for special education services. The brief illustrates the role of progress monitoring within RTI through two student profiles. This brief was developed for the National Center on Student Progress Monitoring.

The National Center on Student Progress Monitoring (NCSPM) was funded by the Office of Special Education Programs from 2003-2008, and content has not been updated since that time. Although materials were vetted under the NCSPM, professionals differ in how they report and explain certain content and procedures.  The materials were authored by various experts in the field and thus reflect this variation.  These materials are in the public domain, so you may use and edit them as needed to suit your purposes.
